Amir Sarkhosh (born May 30, 1991 ) is an Iranian snooker player .

Career

As a 12- or 13-year-old Sarkhosh took part in the 2004 Asian Snooker Championship , where he was eliminated from the group stage with one win and three losses (including against the eventual finalist Pankaj Advani ). Two years later he was eliminated from the group stage. At the U21 Asian Cup in 2007 he survived the group stage, where he won three out of four games, but in the round of 16 he lost 4-2 to eventual winner Xiao Guodong . After a quarter-final defeat at the U21 Asian Snooker Championship next year, he survived the group stage at the Amarteur World Championship 2008 , but lost again to Xiao Guodong, this time in the round of 32. Sarkhosh also took part in the U21 Snooker Championship. Asian Cup 2009 part, but where he was eliminated in the group stage.

In 2009 he reached the quarterfinals of the U21 amateur world championship held in Kisch, Iran , where he failed to Liu Chuang . After an unsuccessful participation in the U21 Asian Snooker Championship in 2010 , he reached the quarter-finals at the U21 Asian Snooker Championship in 2012 , where he lost to his compatriot and eventual winner Hossein Vafaei . At the Amateur World Cup in 2012 , he was eliminated again in the group stage. Sarkhosh celebrated his greatest success at the time at the 2013 Asian Snooker Championship , where he made it to the semi-finals after surviving the group phase. He lost to the Syrian Omar al-Kojah , who lost in the final to Sarkhosh's group opponent Saleh Mohammadi . In the same year he was invited to the 6-Red World Championship held in September , a tournament on the Snooker Main Tour , but where he was eliminated in the group stage with only one win (over Darren Morgan ). In November he survived undefeated the group stage of the amateur world championship , he was finally eliminated in the round of 32 against Darryl Hill . At the Asian Cup 2014 he lost in the first main round against Thor Chuan Leong . For the second year in a row, Sarkhosh took part in the 6-Red World Championship in September , where he was eliminated from the group stage with two wins from five games.

At the Amateur World Cup in 2014 , Sarkhosh reached the quarterfinals, where he was eliminated with 3: 6 against Kritsanut Lertsattayathorn . At the 2015 Asian Cup , he survived the group stage, but lost again to Kritsanut Lertsattayathorn in the first main round. At the Amateur World Cup in 2015 , he survived the group stage and moved into the second main round, where he was defeated by the Indian Pankaj Advani . At the Asian 6-Red Championship 2016 he moved into the first main round, where he was eliminated by Habib Subah. At the Asian Snooker Championship in the same year he made it to the semifinals, but lost to Mohammed Shebab . At the amateur world championship in 2016 he reached the second round, where he lost to his compatriot Hamed Zarehdoust. In the round of 32 of the 2017 Asian Snooker Cup , Sarkhosh lost to Mohammed Al Joker.

In July and August 2017, Sarkhosh took part in the Asian 6-Red Championship and the IBSF 6-Red World Championship , where he was eliminated in the second round on both occasions. After an unsuccessful participation in the Asian Indoor Games 2017 , he moved into the final of the amateur world championship , where he lost to Pankaj Advani with 2: 8. He reached his second finals in a row at the 2018 Asian Snooker Championship , this time defeating his compatriot Ali Ghareghouzlo 6-1.
