The 2014 IBSF World Snooker Championship was the 39th edition of the World Amateur Snooker Championship . It took place from November 19-29 , 2014 at the Kanteerva Indoor Stadium in Bangalore . It was the fifth amateur World Cup in India and, after 1987 and 2011, the third in the capital of the state of Karnataka .

Yan Bingtao defeated the Pakistani Muhammad Sajjad 8: 7 in the final and qualified for the Main Tour seasons 2015/16 and 2016/17 . Since the Chinese did not receive a visa for the United Kingdom , his main tour ticket was postponed by one year, to the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons . At the age of 14 years and nine months, Yan became the youngest player to ever become amateur world champion, replacing the age record set by his compatriot Zhou Yuelong the previous year .

mode

The 105 participating players were divided into 16 groups in which they competed against each other in round robin mode . The four best placed in each group qualified for the final round, which was played in the knockout system .
