Eklent Kaçi (born January 29, 1999 in Laç ) is an Albanian pool and snooker player .

Career

Pool

Eklent Kaçi started playing billiards at the age of eight . In 2013 he was nominated for the first time for the European Men's Championship . He managed to get into the round of the last 64 in the 10-ball , in which he was defeated by the Swede Andreas Gerwen . At the EM 2014 Kaçi reached the final round in 14/1 endless and in 10-ball. He then took part in a Euro Tour tournament for the first time, the North Cyprus Open 2014 , but was eliminated there without a win. A few weeks later, he won his first medals at the European Schools Championship . After a 3: 6 defeat in the final against Maxim Dudanez, he became vice European champion in 10-ball and third in 8-ball and 9-ball .

In March 2015, Kaçi became Albanian men's 8-ball champion in the final against Labinot Markaj . A month later he reached the round of 64 at the men's European championships in 10-ball and 8-ball. At the Portugal Open , which took place following the European championship, he made it into the for the first time during his second Euro Tour participation Final round. In the sixteenth finals he was defeated by the German Ralf Souquet . At the 2015 European Schools Championship he was third in 10-ball and, after a 5-6 final defeat against Sanjin Pehlivanović, he was runner -up in 8-ball. In November 2015 he reached the round of 32 at the Treviso Open , in which he was defeated 8: 9 by Tomasz Kapłan from Poland .

In March 2016, Kaçi became Albanian champion in 9-ball with a 9: 7 final victory against Edmond Zaja . After reaching the round of 32 at the Austrian Open and the North Cyprus Open , he moved into the round of 16 at the Albanian Open 2016 , the first Euro Tour tournament in his home country, in which he played against eventual tournament winner Mateusz Śniegocki lost 6: 9. In October 2016 he reached the sixteenth finals at the Dutch Open and 25th place at the US Open . A little later he also made it into the round of 32 at the Kremlin Cup 2016 .

In January 2017 he was eliminated in the first round of the Molinari Players Championship , the first tournament in the World Pool Series . In February he finished seventeenth in the 9-ball competition of the Derby City Classics . A little later on the Euro Tour he reached the sixteenth finals of the Italian Open and the last sixteen of the Portugal Open 2017 , in which he lost to the reigning 10-ball European champion Marc Bijsterbosch . In April 2017, he won a world ranking tournament in New York for the first time: at the Aramith Masters Championship , the second WPS tournament, after winning against Francisco Sánchez , Jeffrey de Luna and Jayson Shaw, he reached the final, in which he won the Filipino Carlo Biado defeated 6: 4 and 7: 5 in straight sets. He then stayed in the United States and won two tournaments on the Joss Northeast Tour and one tournament on the Predator Tour. At the Ryo Rack Classic 2017 , the third WPS tournament, he was eliminated in the semi-finals against eventual tournament winner Skyler Woodward . He also reached the semifinals at the 2017 Kremlin Cup and lost to defending champion Alexander Kazakis . After he was eliminated in the last sixteen at the Klagenfurt Open , he moved into the final of the US Open at the end of October 2017 , in which he had to admit defeat to the Scot Jayson Shaw 4:13. A little later he won the final tournament of the World Pool Series with a 13:11 final victory over Petri Makkonen . At the Treviso Open 2017 he made it past the last sixteen for the first time on the Euro Tour. After defeating Petri Makkonen and Philipp Stojanovic , among others , he lost 7: 9 to Austrian Mario He in the semi-finals . In December 2017 he took part in the 9-ball world championship for the first time and reached the semi-finals with six wins in a row, including against Chu Bingjie , David Alcaide and Maung Maung , which he lost 6:11 against the Philippine Roland Garcia .

In March 2018 he moved into a Euro Tour final for the first time at the Treviso Open . In the final, Kaçi defeated the Austrian Albin Ouschan 9: 5 and was the second Albanian after Nick Malai to win a Euro Tour tournament.

In January 2016, Kaçi became Albanian snooker champion with a 3-0 final win against Besar Spahiu . A few days later he reached the round of 32 at the U18 European Championship and the round of 96 when he first participated in the Men's European Championship. In August 2016, he reached the round of 16 at the U18 World Championship , in which he won the Englishman Lewis Gillen lost 3: 4. At the U21 World Cup in 2016 , however, he was eliminated in the round of 72. At the 2017 European Championships he reached the round of 32 and lost to Kacper Filipiak . In 2018 he reached the round of 32 at the U21 European Championship and the last 64 at the Men's European Championship .
