The Aramith Masters Championship 2017 was a snooker tournament in the discipline 8-Ball , which from 5 to 8 April 2017 in Steinway Billiards in New York district of Astoria in the USA took place. It was the second tournament in the World Pool Series .

The winner was the Albanian Eklent Kaçi , who defeated the Filipino Carlo Biado 2-0 (6: 4, 7: 5) in the final and won a world ranking tournament for the first time. Third place went to Darren Appleton and Jayson Shaw . Ruslan Tschinachow , the winner of the first WPS tournament , was eliminated in the preliminary round.

The challenge tournament taking place at the same time, the Kamui Challenge , was won by the Filipino Lee Van Corteza with a 2-1 final victory over the Finn Mika Immonen .

mode

The mode has changed significantly since the first tournament of the World Pool Series. The 82 participants competed against each other in the double knockout system up to the round of 16 and then in the knockout system . In the double knockout phase, one set was played out of nine competitions, which had to be won by a margin of two games. With a score of 8: 8, a shootout was played in which both players played five balls from a given position and received one point for each ball sunk. In the final round, several sets were played in best-of-3 mode . Six competitions were played within the sets, with another two points ahead of the game to be won. When the score was 6: 6, a decision game was played in the first two sets, in the third set the winner was determined in a shootout.
