In the preliminary round match against Mika Immonen , Chris Melling managed a well-noticed clearance in the third game. The Englishman played a combination, a mass kick and sank a ball over four boards .
The simultaneous challenge tournament, the Simonis Challenge , won the Finnish Mika Immonen in the final against the Filipino Lee Van Corteza .
The 62 participants competed against each other up to the round of 16 in the double knockout system and then in the knockout system . In the double knockout phase, one set was played out of eleven or nine competitions, which had to be won by a margin of two games. With a score of 10:10 or 8: 8, a shootout was played in which both players played five balls from a given position and received one point for each ball sunk. In the final round, several sets were played in best-of-3 mode . Six competitions are played within the sets, whereby the winner must again be won by two points. When the score was 6: 6, a decision game was played in the first two sets, in the third set the winner was determined in a shootout.
