The 2018 EBSA U21 European Snooker Championship was a snooker tournament that took place from February 5th to 9th, 2018 at the Ramada Hotel in Sofia . It was the 22nd edition of the Junior Continental Championship organized by the European Billiards and Snooker Association . The Bulgarian capital was the venue for the second time after 2012 .
European champion was Simon Lichtenberg , who defeated Welsh Tyler Rees 6: 3 in the final. The Berliner, who was the first German to reach the final of an international amateur championship, would have been athletically qualified for the Main Tour seasons 2018/19 and 2019/20 with the victory . Since the German Billard Union had not previously joined the newly founded World Snooker Federation , which the professional world association WPBSA had made a condition for players to be able to take on the professional tour, it was initially unclear whether he would get the Main Tour place.

The 95 participants were divided into 19 groups in which they competed against each other in round robin mode . The top three in each group qualified for the final round, which was played in the knockout system .
