Xu Si ( Chinese 徐 思 , Pinyin Xú Sī ; born January 24, 1998 in Jieyang ) is a Chinese snooker player from Dongguan .
Career
Xu Si was born in Jiexi County, Jieyang Metropolis . He started playing snooker in 2009, and just a year later, at the age of 11, he won his first national youth tournament. He received his education in Dongguan , where Ding Junhui was also at home.
In 2013, at the age of 15, he took part in the Players Tour Championship open to amateurs for the first time . The following year he first attracted attention at the Haining Open when he defeated two professionals with Andrew Pagett and Noppon Saengkham and finished in the last 32. After two more individual tournaments the following year, the PTC tournaments were discontinued. So he got his next chance in professional snooker again at the World Open 2016 . With a wildcard he got the opportunity to qualify for the main tournament, which he also managed with a win over James Wattana . A little later he was even more successful at the International Championship , where he came back to the main tournament and then in round 1 the world number 14. Mark Williams defeated 6-5. For the second time he was among the last 32.
Two months earlier, Xu Si had competed at the U21 World Cup in Belgium. There he defeated two players, Kacper Filipiak and Alexander Ursenbacher , who had already been professionals. The 6: 5 victory over Ursenbacher in the final, after 3: 5 deficit, brought him the title of Junior World Champion. It also meant qualification for the Snooker Main Tour for the next two seasons from 2017.
