Jieyang
Jieyang ( Chinese 揭阳 市 , Pinyin Jiēyáng Shì ) is a district-free city in the People's Republic of China . It is located in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong , has an area of 5,138 km² and around 6.09 million inhabitants (2016). 1.23 million people live in the actual urban settlement area of Jieyang (2010 census).
Administrative structure
Jieyang is made up of a municipality, an independent city and three counties:
- (1) Rongcheng District (榕城 区), 182 km², approx. 650,000 inhabitants (2003);
- (2) City of Puning (普宁 市), 1,620 km², approx. 2.01 million inhabitants (2003);
- (3) District Jiedong (揭东县), 850 square kilometers, 1.21 million inhabitants (2003), the main town: Street district Quxi (曲溪街道);
- (4) Jiexi district (揭西 县), 1,279 km², approx. 890,000 inhabitants (2003), main town: street district Hepo (河婆 街道);
- (5) Huilai district (惠 来 县), 1,207 km², approx. 1.08 million inhabitants (2003), capital: Huicheng municipality (惠 城镇).
