Huizhou ( Chinese  惠州 市 , Pinyin Huìzhōu Shì ) is a district-free city in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong . The Huizhou dialect of the Hakka language is spoken here. Huizhou has an area of ​​10,655 km² and approx. 4.78 million inhabitants (2016). 1.81 million people live in the actual urban settlement area of ​​Huizhou (2010 census).

The "Former Residence of Ye Ting " (叶挺 故居, Ye Ting Guju ) in Huizhou is on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China .

Administrative structure

Huizhou is made up of two districts and three counties:

  • City district Huicheng (惠 城区), 1,410 km², approx. 920,000 inhabitants, center, seat of the city government;
  • Huiyang District (惠阳 区), 1,262 km², approx. 510,000 inhabitants;
  • Kreis Boluo (博罗县) km² 2795, about 820,000 inhabitants;
  • County Huidong (惠东县), 3,397 km², about 700,000 inhabitants;
  • Longmen district (龙门县), 2,058 km², approx. 320,000 inhabitants.
