Yangjiang ( Chinese 阳江 市 , Pinyin Yángjiāng Shì ) is a district-free city on the Chinese south coast in Guangdong Province .
Administrative structure
At the county level, Yangjiang is made up of two districts , a district and an independent city . These are:
- (1) Jiangcheng District (江城区), 453 km², 630,000 inhabitants;
- (4) Yangdong District (阳 东区), 2,043 km², 440,000 inhabitants, capital: Dongcheng Township (东 城镇);
- (3) Yangxi County (阳西县), 1,271 km², 470,000 inhabitants, main town: Zhilong Municipality (织 篢 镇);
- (2) Yangchun City (阳春 市), 4,055 km², 1.05 million inhabitants.

Yangjiang is located in the west of Guangdong . It is bordered by Maoming to the west, Yunfu to the north, Jiangmen to the east, and the South China Sea to the south .
climate
The climate in Yangjiang is subtropical and oceanic.
The average temperatures are 14.6 ° C in January and 28 ° C in July. The amount of precipitation is 2200 mm / year. Especially in the south of Yangchun , the annual precipitation exceeds 2600 mm and is among the highest in Guangdong. With the exception of a large part of the coast, precipitation is comparatively high at over 2000 mm / year. There can be typhoons and heavy rains in summer and autumn.

The highway from Guangzhou to Zhanjiang (广湛 高速) runs through the prefecture along the cities of Yangdong, Yangjiang and Yangxi and a highway that connects Yangjiang and Yangdong with the dense highway network between Guangzhou, Foshan , Jiangmen , Zhongshan , Zhuhai and Macau (西部沿海 高速 literally "west" "along the sea" "highway").
In the north of the prefecture (Yangchun) the railway line runs from Guangzhou to Zhanjiang (三 茂 线). Another smaller railway line runs from the north of the prefecture to the port of Yangjiang in the south (阳阳 铁路).
economy
Knives, lacquer, soybeans and fish are particularly important for Yangjiang's economy.
60% of the Chinese production of knives and scissors takes place in Yangjiang and 80% of the exports come from there. The prefecture is therefore also called the capital of the scissors (国家 刀剪 之 都). One of the special local products is also a knife (阳江 小刀 literally “Yangjiang” “small knife”). Knife counterfeits, such as alleged “Made in Solingen ”, Global or CHROMA knives , also come from Yangjiang .
The production of kites in Yangjiang has a 1400 year old tradition.
