Stuart Pettman (born April 24, 1975 in Preston ) is an English snooker player .

Career

Pettman began his professional career in 1992 at the age of 17, but it wasn't until ten years later that he was able to achieve his first major successes. In 2003 and 2004 he qualified twice in a row for the finals of the World Championships . After failing ten times in the round of 32 at official tournaments, he reached a round of 16 for the first time at the 2005 Malta Cup . At the end of the season he reached 38th place, his highest world ranking position to date .

Although he made it to the second round twice in the next few years ( Grand Prix 2005 , Shanghai Masters 2007 ), he slipped to 62nd place in the world rankings before his greatest success to date at the China Open 2009. He beat three top 16 players in a row with Mark Allen , Allister Carter and Graeme Dott and advanced to the semifinals of the tournament. Accordingly, it improved back to 37th place in the 2009/10 world rankings .

After a disappointing 2010/11 season , Pettman dropped from 35th place back into the area outside the top 64 and therefore had to leave the main tour.

Since 2006 Stuart Pettman and his snooker colleague Shokat Ali have owned the Elite Snooker Club in Preston.
