Jamie Curtis-Barrett (born April 19, 1984 as Jamie Barrett ) is an English snooker player from Grimsby . Between 2016 and 2018 he was a professional on the Main Tour for two years .

Career

Beginnings

Barrett started playing snooker when he was 11 and wanted to become a professional as soon as he was of age, but to no avail. When his grandfather, who was a fan of snooker and who had always accompanied him to tournaments, died, he withdrew from snooker at times. In the mid-2000s he started playing again and in 2009 he found a sponsor and tried again to get into professional snooker.

With the start of the Players Tour Championship 2010, he also took part in these tournaments for professionals and amateurs. Several times he reached the main tournament with the professional players. In 2012 he tried for the first time to come to the Main Tour via the Q School , but failed in the second tournament in the semifinals. In 2014 and 2015 he tried again, but was unsuccessful. His performance gave him the chance to qualify for professional tournaments as an amateur. Twice he got a free place in 2015, but twice he lost to the professionals.

Professional years

In 2016 he lost in tournament 1 and tournament 2 in the semifinals, but he was lucky that the rule had been introduced that the four tournament best, who had not qualified directly, also got a Main Tour place. With that he became a professional at the age of 32.
