The Wuxi Classic (formerly Jiangsu Classic ) was a professional snooker tournament .

history

From the introduction of the tournament as the Jiangsu Classic in 2008, until 2011, it was an invitation-only tournament with no points for the world rankings . Nevertheless, it was part of the Snooker Main Tour at the beginning of each season .

From 2008 to 2011 twelve players took part in the tournament, who played the four semi-finalists in two groups of six. In 2010 the name was changed to Wuxi Classic , named after the venue, the Wuxi City Sports Park Stadium in Wuxi , China . At the same time, the group mode was abolished and replaced by the knockout system .

In the 2012/13 season it became the fifth full-fledged ranking tournament to be held in China.

In 2009, Mark Selby achieved the 69th maximum break in snooker history during the group stage .

In 2012, Stuart Bingham already played the 89th official maximum break in the final.

In 2013, Neil Robertson achieved the 98th maximum break in snooker history in qualifying.

In the 2015/16 season the World Cup moved to Wuxi and the Wuxi Classic was discontinued.
