final

With Rex Williams and Ray Edmonds two Englishmen and at the same time two former world champions in English billiards reached the final of the tournament . Williams had first defeated George Scott on his way to the final, which began with a bye for the first round , before reaching the final with a victory over the more famous Jackie Rea and the young Eugene Hughes . Edmonds had also had a bye and moved into the semifinals with two wins over Clive Everton , who mostly appeared as a snooker journalist rather than a snooker player, and Paul Medati , where he was a white-wash over the later in the decade in sixth place placed Mike Hallett had succeeded. There are no exact frame results from the final itself, but all in all Williams defeated Edmonds 4: 1.
