Murdo MacLeod (born January 14, 1947 in Edinburgh ) is a Scottish snooker player who was a professional on the Snooker Main Tour for 16 years between 1981 and 1996 . Between 1983 and 1985 he was Scottish champion three times .

Career

Murdo MacLeod became a professional player for the 1981/82 snooker season . A year later he reached the round of the last 48 at the World Cup , where he lost to Dave Martin . At the UK Championship 1983 he reached the round of 32, where he lost to Alex Higgins . On August 28, 1983 he defeated Eddie Sinclair 11: 9 in the final of the Scottish Championship and became Scottish champions for the first time. Also in the snooker world championship in 1984 he reached the round of 48. In the same year he won the Scottish snooker championship for the second time by an 8: 7 win over Eddie Sinclair. Also in 1985 he defended this title by 10-2 against Sinclair. At the snooker world championship in 1987 MacLeod advanced to the second round, but where he failed at the reigning world champion Joe Johnson . In the coming season, many placements followed in the rounds of the last 32, in the round of 16 or in the quarter-finals. Still, MacLeod never won a title.

At the Asian Open 1990 MacLeod reached the round of 32 for the last time in a Main Tour tournament, he lost 4-5 to John Campbell . In 1991 he reached the quarterfinals of the World Senior Championship, where he lost 5-2 to Terry Griffiths . In round 6 of the 1996 World Snooker Championship , he played his last game as a professional, losing 5:10 to John Read . In the following two years MacLeod took part in the World Cup as an amateur, but lost both times in the first round.
