Buurtzorg ( Eng . "Neighborhood Care ") is a Dutch company for outpatient care . Buurtzorg is breaking new ground in care and doing without any hierarchy. Independent teams of around 10 people take care of everything themselves, from planning their work to contacting general practitioners. The goals also include the involvement of family and neighborhood and the active support and promotion of the patient's independence.

history

Buurtzorg was founded in 2006 by Jos de Blok in Almelo . From 1993 to 2006 he was a manager at two national outpatient care services. Nursing managers limit the potential of a nurse, based on his own experience. Therefore he started to go his own way and in 2006 founded the first independent Buurtzorg team.

The organization currently employs 14,500 people, which is 20% of the Dutch outpatient care market. Buurtzorg has been voted the best Dutch employer five times. In 2014 Jos de Blok received the "Albert Medal" from the Royal Society of Arts, which has been awarded to personalities such as Thomas Edison , Franklin D. Roosevelt and Stephen Hawking since 1864 .

Buurtzorg currently has cooperation agreements with 25 countries.
