The UK Championship 1983 was a snooker tournament that was played from November 18 to December 4, 1983 at the Guild Hall in Preston . The Northern Irishman Alex Higgins won the final with 16:15 against Steve Davis .
Prize money
The total prize money increased by £ 11,800 over the previous year. The winner got £ 1,000 more and almost all other bonuses rose as well. In addition, the payouts have also been expanded to positions 33 to 48.
