The 1986 UK Championship was a snooker tournament that was played from November 14th to 30th, 1986 at the Guild Hall in Preston . For the second time it was a world ranking tournament. For the third time in a row, Steve Davis won . He clearly defeated Neal Foulds in the final 16: 7.
Prize money
There was a huge jump in prize money, from £ 120,000 last year to almost £ 300,000. The winner alone received £ 60,000 instead of the previous year's £ 24,000. All other awards up to 64th place and those for the highest breaks were more than doubled.
