final

The Englishman Steve Davis had already won the Irish Masters in 1983 and 1984 and after two years of abstinence from the final he had made it to the final again with a victory over the three-time and thus record winner of the tournament Terry Griffiths . He met his compatriot Willie Thorne , who was in the final last year and had lost 9: 5 to Jimmy White .

After a close result in the first frame of the game won by Davis, Thorne equalized immediately. But Davis subsequently won all eight necessary frames in a row and won the match 9-1. In addition, he drew level with record winner Terry Griffiths .
