final
The Welshman Terry Griffiths was in the final for the third time in a row, he had won the last two finals. Like himself, his final opponent Steve Davis had become world champion, whereby Davis was still reigning and should win a total of 6 world titles during his career.
Davis started the match better and took a 3-0 lead before Griffiths turned the game around and took a 4-3 lead himself. Davis equalized immediately, but Griffiths made the decisive jump to <8: 4. Davis was able to prevent the direct march through, but with a 52 break in the 14th frame Griffiths won the match and thus his third title at the Irish Masters.
