final
In the final, the reigning champion of Ireland met Alex Higgins on Stephen Hendry , who had already won three tournaments this season. Among other things, Higgins had defeated last year's finalist Neal Foulds before reaching the final of the tournament for the second time since 1985. His opponent was the Scot Stephen Hendry, who had already won three tournaments this season and had defeated Steve Davis, the winner of the last two editions, when he participated for the first time.
Hendry got off to a much better start and took the lead 0: 4 and 1: 5, also thanks to a 105 break. But Higgins then played the game and took the lead 6: 5 after an equalization. Hendry, on the other hand, first took the lead and then extended it to 6: 8. With a break of 54, Higgins won the next frame before he also won the following frame and thus forced the decider . Higgind won this with a break of 62, which meant that the Northern Irish won a tournament for the last time in his career, while the Scot Hendry should dominate the 1990s.
