It was held in September 1988 in Marco's Leisure Center in the Scottish city of Glasgow . The winner was the Englishman Gary Wilkinson , who defeated the two-time world champion Alex Higgins 5: 4 in the final.
Prize money
The total prize money was 25,000 pounds sterling , which was also distributed roughly for the other two tournaments in the newly introduced tournament series. The winner received a fifth of the prize money.
