Opoczka (German Esdorf) is a village in the rural municipality Świdnica (German Schweidnitz ) in the Powiat Świdnicki in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland .

location

The place is 5 ½ kilometers southeast of Świdnica (German Schweidnitz ).

history

Esdorf was created in the course of the eastern colonization by German settlers. In 1372 the place was mentioned as Eselsdorf and in 1409 as Ezildorf . After the First Silesian War in 1741/42 Esdorf fell to Prussia and was incorporated into the Schweidnitz district.

The place had a grain distillery and a watermill on the so-called Esgrunde , the Esmühle . Esdorf used to extend beyond the mill. The properties were destroyed in a fire and not rebuilt. In the evangelical school of Esdorf, which was also attended by the children of Schwengfeld, 1 teacher taught 150 students.

In 1845 the rural community had 53 houses, 1 farm and 320 inhabitants. 28 of them were Catholic and the rest were Protestant. 8 cotton chairs, 8 craftsmen and 1 trader worked in the village. Esdorf was Catholic parish to Schwengeld and Protestant to the Friedenskirche Schweidnitz . In 1874 the rural communities Esdorf, Ludwigsdorf and Schwengfeld and the associated manor districts were formed into the administrative district Schwengfeld. In 1929 the Schwengfeld district was renamed Esdorf.

When it was taken over by Soviet troops and the Polish administration in 1945, Esdorf was renamed Opoczka . The German residents were expelled and replaced by Poles .
