Life

David Greaves came on the professional tour in 1972 and won his first professional game in the 1973 World Snooker Championship with 9: 8 against Bernard Bennett . In the following round he was clearly defeated by Fred Davis 1:16. Greaves won his next match two seasons later: In the first round of the 1975 World Snooker Championship he defeated Jim Charlton 15:14, in the round of the last 24 he had to admit defeat to Gary Owen . Also in the 1976 season he failed in the second qualifying round, a year later he even lost 0:11 against David Taylor . Until the 1981 World Cup , Greaves never won a single game. In 1981 he was able to defeat Maurice Parkin 9: 5, but then he had to admit defeat Willie Thorne . In 1983 he won one game against Roy Andrewartha in the Professional Players Tournament , but lost all other eight games, including a 10-0 loss to Ray Edmonds in the 1984 World Snooker Championship . The following season he even ended without a win, so that he landed on the world rankings in 96th place. After the next season he even slipped to 107th place, as he only won 5-4 in the Classic against Paul Watchorn . 1986/87 he won only in the round of 128 at the World Cup against Paul Thornley , which worsened his position on the world rankings by another 10 places.

In the next season he only won the English Professional Championship , where he lost after victories over Steve James and Graham Cripsey in the round of 32 with 5: 6 against the later semi-finalist Barry West . A season later he only won the first non-ranking event over Robbie Grace and without a fight against Mark Rowing . In 1990 he only played his World Cup game against Duncan Campbell , which he lost 10: 3. A year later, as part of the World Snooker Championship in 1991 , he played his last professional game, which he lost 1:10 to Jason Ferguson .
