Montcoy is a French municipality with 251 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Saone-et-Loire in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Bourgogne ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Chalon-sur-Saône and the canton of Ouroux-sur-Saône (until 2015 Saint-Martin-en-Bresse ).

Montcoy is located about ten kilometers east-northeast of Chalon-sur-Saône in the natural landscape of Bresse . Montcoy is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Damerey in the north, Saint-Martin-en-Bresse in the east, Guerfand in the east and southeast, L'Abergement-Sainte-Colombe in the south, Saint-Christophe-en-Bresse in the south and southwest, Allériot in the West as well as Bey to the west and northwest.
