Genouilly is about 29 kilometers west-southwest of Chalon-sur-Saône on the Guye . Genouilly is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Puley in the north, Germagny in the northeast, Saint-Martin-du-Tartre in the east and southeast, Vaux-en-Pré in the south and southeast, Saint-Clément-sur-Guye and Joncy in the south, Collonge -en-Charollais to the west and south-west and Saint-Micaud to the north-west.
