Saint-Desert is a French commune in the department of Saone-et-Loire in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the arrondissement Chalon-sur-Saône , the canton Givry and the municipality association Le Grand Chalon . The municipality has 881 inhabitants (January 1, 2017) who call themselves Désiréens or Désiréennes .
The wine-growing community of Saint-Désert ( Côte Chalonnaise and Crémant de Bourgogne ) is about 15 kilometers from Chalon-sur-Saône .
The fortress church from the 15th century is well worth seeing.
Hiking trails along the stream and through vineyards with a panoramic view of Mont Avril and Mont Pourroux are attractive for tourists .
Saint-Désert has a partnership with the municipality of Manternach in Luxembourg .
