Town hall Gergy

Gergy is a French commune with 2,545 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Saone-et-Loire in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the arrondissement Chalon-sur-Saône and is the capital of the canton of the same name (until 2015: Canton Verdun-sur-le-Doubs ). The inhabitants are called Gergotiens .

geography

Gergy is located on the Saône river . The rivers Vandaine and Varande converge here and flow into the Saône in the northeast. Gergy is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Loup-Géanges in the north, Allerey-sur-Saône in the northeast, Verjux in the east, Damerey and Bey in the southeast, Sassenay in the south, Virey-le-Grand in the southwest, Lessard-le-National in the West as well as Demigny in the northwest.

The Via Agrippa, the Roman road from Lyon (Lugdunum) to Cologne (Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium) runs through the municipality .
