Attractions

  • Notre Dame Church in Malay was first mentioned in 1095. In 1160 she was one of the deaneries of Cluny . It became the main parish church after it was merged with the neighboring villages of Seugny and Ougy. The current church with three naves and transepts is a Romanesque building that was built in two large stages. This was followed by the construction of the upper church tower. In the first section, the choir , the transept , the apse and the radial chapels were created in the 11th century under Abbot Saint Hughes. The three ships were built in the middle of the 12th century. Just like the neighboring Saint-Hippolyte, the deanery becomes a fortress, as the escape gate from the 13th century still bears witness to today . The west entrance was bricked up and the window on the facade was broken through in the 15th century. In the 19th century a sacristy and a tower staircase were built. In this context, the side doors were also renewed. The burnt church tower received its stone roof in 1931.
