Lans is about five kilometers east-southeast of Chalon-sur-Saône . Lans is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Oslon in the north, Saint-Christophe-en-Bresse in the east and south-east, Ouroux-sur-Saône in the south, Épervans in the south-west and Saint-Marcel in the west and north-west.
