Gigny-sur-Saône is located about seventeen kilometers south-southeast of Chalon-sur-Saône on the Saône , which borders the municipality in the east. Gigny-sur-Saône is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Marnay in the north, Saint-Germain-du-Plain in the east and northeast, Ormes in the east and southeast, Boyer in the south, Sennecey-le-Grand in the west and southwest and Saint-Cyr in the Northwest.
