René Grelin (born September 21, 1942 in Gigny-sur-Saône ) is a former French cyclist .

Grelin was a professional from 1968 to 1975 , for several years together in the same racing team as Raymond Poulidor . His greatest success was probably his victory in 1970 at the Nice-Seillans , today's Tour du Haut-Var . He took part in the Tour de France four times, but only crossed the finish line twice. His best placing on the Tour of France was 26th in 1973.

At the age of 33, Grelin ended his cycling career and opened a bicycle shop, first in Chalon-sur-Saône and later in Sanary-sur-Mer on the Côte d'Azur . In 1983 he became road world champion in the masters class of his age.

In the same year René Grelin went to the Ivory Coast to work as a coach for the national team there, and then worked in Burkina Faso . His engagement there was financed by the Lebanese entrepreneur Michel Fadoul . After returning to Ivory Coast, he was hit by a car while training on the road in Abidjan and was seriously injured.

Today (as of 2016) Grelin still lives in Abidjan and produces and sells soaps, the use of which protects against the malaria mosquito.
