Adolf van der Venne (born April 16, 1828 in Vienna , † September 23, 1911 in Schweinfurt ) was an Austrian genre and horse painter, descendant of a Dutch family.

Adolf van der Venne studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . He exhibited his works at the Wiener Kunstverein.

Between the years 1862 and 1864 Adolf van der Venne lived in Ečka in the Serbian Banat and during this time he painted three large-format pictures: “The Baptism of Christ”, “Judith” and “St. Elisabeth of Hungary ”. He later moved to Munich.

Adolf van der Venne mainly painted scenes from rural life. His son Fritz (Friedrich Adolf Wilhelm van der Venne, 1873-1936) was also a genre, animal and landscape painter.
