Nanton is a French municipality with 634 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Saone-et-Loire in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Bourgogne ); it belongs to the arrondissement Chalon-sur-Saône and is part of the canton of Tournus (until 2015 Sennecey-le-Grand ). The inhabitants are called Nantonais .

Nanton is located about 17 kilometers south-southwest of Chalon-sur-Saône . The municipality is crossed in the west by the river Grison . Nanton is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lalheue in the north and northwest, Laives in the north and northeast, Montceaux-Ragny in the east, Jugy and Vers in the southeast, Mancey in the south and southeast, Étrigny in the south and southwest and La Chapelle-de-Bragny in the west .
