WPBSA non-ranking
The WPBSA Non-Ranking was a professional snooker tournament series as part of the Snooker Main Tour . The total of five tournaments were played in the 1988/89 and 1989/90 seasons .
history
The first three tournaments took place in September, November and December 1988 as part of the 1988/89 season in Glasgow , Brixham and Leeds . The first tournament was won by Gary Wilkinson , who defeated two-time world champion Alex Higgins 5: 4 in the final, in the second tournament the Irishman Paddy Browne won 5: 1 against Peter Francisco and in the third tournament in an all-English final game David Taylor with 9: 1 against Steve Meakin .
There were also tournaments in the next season, but one less than last year. In the first tournament in September 1989, the Australian Robby Foldvari won with a clear 8: 1 against Darren Morgan , in the second tournament Ken Owers won 9: 6 against Dave Gilbert .
