The Canadian Professional Championship was a snooker tournament to determine Canada's national snooker champion.
history
The competition was held for the first time in 1980. From 1983 it took place annually.
From 1985 the competition was financially supported by the world association WPBSA . In the other leading snooker nations (England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia and South Africa) corresponding championships were financed by the world association between 1985 and 1989 (see section see also ). Only players from the respective country were eligible to participate, so there were no points for the snooker world rankings .
Toronto was the venue from 1985 to 1988 . With the end of the financing by the WPBSA from 1988/89 the competition was stopped again.
