World Doubles Championship

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The World Doubles Championship was a professional snooker tournament .

They were held annually from 1982 onwards; never had the status of a world ranking tournament. The special thing about the tournament was that teams of two players competed against each other instead of individual players as in almost all other tournaments. However, this variant did not really catch on, so that the tournament disappeared from the calendar of the Snooker Main Tour in 1987 .

The venues were the Crystal Palace National Recreation Center (1982) and the Derngate Center in Northampton (1983-1987).
