The first edition of the Antwerp Open took place in mid-November 2011, i.e. during the 2011/12 season , in the Lotto Arena in Antwerp . The tournament was sponsored by Acuerate and was the ninth event in the Players Tour Championship , a series of minor ranking tournaments with amateur participation. The highest break was played by Nigel Bond with 137 points.
The 2012 edition took place in mid-October as part of the 2012/13 season and was the third event of the European Tour , the European partial series of the Players Tour Championship .
