Tolly Cobbold Classic

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tolly Cobbold Classic was a professional snooker tournament . It was held annually between 1979 and 1984. The venue for the tournament sponsored by the Tolly Cobbold Brewery was the Corn Exchange in Ipswich .

There were no world ranking points for the tournament as it was an invitation tournament. The prize money increased over time and was 7,000 pounds sterling for the winner in the last edition. There were always eight participants in the tournament, except in 1980 when there were only four.

After 1984, the tournament was replaced by the revived English Professional Championship , which was also held in Ipswich.
