The 1988 Matchroom Professional Championship was a snooker tournament that belonged to the 1988/89 snooker season . The invitation tournament was held in October 1988 in the Cliffs Pavilion in the English city of Southend-on-Sea . The tournament sponsored by LEP was discontinued after this edition.
In a re-edition of the match of the century between Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor Davis was able to win 10: 7. He also played the highest break of the tournament.
