The 1987 Dulux British Open was a snooker tournament of the 1986/87 season that took place in Derby from February 15 to March 1 . The Assembly Rooms in the central English city were the venue for the third time and the paint manufacturer Dulux sponsored the tournament for the third time.
Defending champion Steve Davis was eliminated in round 2. Nevertheless, it came to a purely English final for the second time: Jimmy White defeated his compatriot Neal Foulds 13: 9 in the final and won the fourth title of the season.
Main tournament
The top 32 of the world rankings were set for the main tournament. The players from 33rd place played two qualifying rounds, which resulted in a further 32 players who were then drawn into the top 32. The format remained unchanged until the semi-finals, but one frame more was needed to win the tournament than in the previous two years: the final was increased from best of 23 to best of 25.
