The 1986 Dulux British Open was a snooker tournament of the 1985/86 season , which took place from February 16 to March 2 in Derby in Central England . The Assembly Rooms there had been the venue of a professional tournament for 7 years and hosted the British Open for the second time, which was also sponsored for the second time by the wall paint manufacturer Dulux.
For Silvino Francisco , the winner of the debut tournament last year, the end came in round 2. After the non-British final last year, two Englishmen fought for victory this time. The leader of the world rankings Steve Davis lived up to his role as favorite and defeated Willie Thorne with 12: 7. For Davis it was the fourth win of the season.
Main tournament
The top 32 of the world rankings were set for the main tournament. The players from 33rd place played two qualifying rounds, which resulted in a further 32 players who were then drawn into the top 32.
