The Scottish Masters 1985 was a snooker tournament as part of the Snooker Main Tour of the 1985/86 season . The invitation tournament was held from September 17th to 20th. After the tournament had previously moved three times, the fifth edition of the Scottish Masters took place at the Hospitality Inn in Glasgow , as last year .
The world number one Steve Davis , who had previously won the tournament three times in a row, did not appear to defend his title. He was replaced by the second Cliff Thorburn from Canada. He defeated Willie Thorne 9-7 in the final .
Prize money
The prize pool this year was £ 2,500 more than last year. The two finalists were each given an additional £ 500, all others received an additional £ 250.

The tournament winner Cliff Thorburn was the only player to break more than 100 points in the tournament in the finals and semifinals. Steve Davis had also made 3 century breaks two years earlier . There was £ 500 as an additional bonus for the Canadian.
