The Langs Supreme Scottish Masters 1981 was a snooker tournament as part of the Snooker Main Tour of the 1981/82 season . It was the first edition of the Invitational Tournament and was held at the Kevin Hall in Glasgow from September 22nd to 25th . The sponsor was the Scottish distiller Ian Macleod with his whiskey brand Langs Supreme.
In the final, the world number one Cliff Thorburn met the Englishman Jimmy White . The underdog won the match 9: 4 and won his first title in his second year as a professional.
Prize money
With a cash prize of £ 20,000 , the Scottish Masters was one of the better endowed tournaments. Only in the big professional tournaments were there much higher prizes.
