The Scottish Masters 1984 was a snooker tournament as part of the Snooker Main Tour of the 1984/85 season . The invitation tournament was held from September 20-23 at the Hospitality Inn in Glasgow . In the fourth year of the competition, it was the fourth venue within the Scottish city.
The world number one Steve Davis had previously won the tournament twice. In the final, he met Jimmy White , the 1981 winner . Davis won 9-4 and remained the only one to win three times in a row until the end of the 2002 tournament.
Prize money
The prize money increased by £ 3,000 compared to the previous year . The £ 10,000 win bonus stayed the same, but the remaining players got between £ 125 and £ 1,000 more. In addition, a bonus of £ 500 was offered for the first time for the highest break.
