The 1985 Pontins Professional was a snooker tournament as part of the 1984/85 season . It took place from May 11th to 18th at Pontins' holiday resort in Prestatyn on the north coast of Wales.

Defending champion Willie Thorne lost in the semi-final against Terry Griffiths , who then also won the tournament. He won 9: 7 over John Spencer , who lost the final of the Pontins Professional for the second time in a row. Griffiths was the third Welshman to win the tournament.

Final round

Over time, the tournament became less attractive. Of the top 8 in the world rankings , only the Welsh came to their home tournament, the top 4 stayed away. 8 players from the top 30 competed and determined the tournament winner in three elimination rounds.
