The 1981 Pontins Professional was a snooker tournament as part of the 1980/81 season . It took place from May 9-16 at Pontins' holiday resort in Prestatyn on the north coast of Wales.

Defending champion John Virgo lost his opening match. For the seventh time in the eighth edition of the tournament, Terry Griffiths was a Welshman in the final. In the decision-making frame, he won the final 9: 8 against Willie Thorne .

Prize money

The decision from the previous year to give all 8 participants a minimum bonus was withdrawn this year. Losers in the first round were left empty-handed, but this time the winner got £ 3,500 instead of £ 2,000 and the losing finalist £ 2,000, twice as much as before.
