The Pontins Professional 1976 was a snooker tournament as part of the 1975/76 season . It took place from May 1st to 8th at Pontins' Holiday Park in Prestatyn on the north coast of Wales. It was the third edition of the tournament.
Ray Reardon was so far unbeaten in the tournament and had won the first two editions. This time he reached the final again. This time the opponent was called Fred Davis . That meant a duel between the reigning five-time world champion and the eight-time world champion of the late 1940s and 1950s. For the second time after 1974 the game was not decided until the 19th and last frame and again Reardon had the better end for himself. With 10: 9 he won the third title in a row.
Prize money
Unlike in the previous two years, not only did the winner receive £ 1,000 prize money, each participant received a prize of £ 125 and upwards. An additional £ 1,500 was spent on this.
