The 1982 Pontins Professional was a snooker tournament as part of the 1981/82 season . It took place from May 22nd to 28th at Pontins' holiday resort in Prestatyn on the north coast of Wales.

Defending champion Terry Griffiths lost in the semifinals to his compatriot Ray Reardon . Reardon was in the final for the second time in a row after the World Cup and lost for the second time. The world number two Steve Davis won it with a clear 9: 4 and got his only victory at the Pontins Professional.

Prize money

Once again, the prize money was turned around. The losers in the first round also received a bonus of £ 750 . The premiums for the finalists stayed the same. Overall, this increased the prize money by £ 3,500.

Final round

As in the previous year, only number 1 Cliff Thorburn was missing from the top 6 in the world rankings . The 8 participating professionals played the winner in three elimination rounds. Compared to the previous year, the games in the quarter-finals and semi-finals were extended; instead of two best of 9 games , this time best of 11 and best of 13 were played.
