Ali Hassan

Ali Hassan (born September 10 unknown year in Fredericton , New Brunswick ) is a Canadian comedian and film actor.

Life

Ali Hassan was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick and grew up in Montreal , Quebec . He studied business administration at McMaster University . He interrupted his studies to work as an IT consultant in Chicago, but that didn't really satisfy him. Shortly before September 11, 2001 , he was fired and, as a Muslim with an Arabic-sounding name, was unable to find a follow-up job in the United States in the aftermath of the terrorist attack. So he returned to Canada and finished his studies. He then worked in the catering chef and tried to work with his crew as a television chef.

In addition to his catering career, he tried his hand at a stand-up comedian , which made him much more successful. He was hired by CBC and appeared as a regular panelist more than 160 times on George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight .

Ali Hassan became so popular through the show that from now on he could also appear on television, including in Designated Survivor ( ABC ), Cardinal ( CTV ), Odd Squad - Young Agents Save the World ( PBS Kids ), Game On! ( YTV ) and Man Seeking Woman ( FXX ). On the radio, he hosted the show Laugh Out Loud on CBC Radio and Sirius XM, and guest host of q on CBC and NPR .

In addition to his television and radio activities, he is also touring with his solo program Muslim Interrupted . He has appeared at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival , JFL42 in Toronto, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival , the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and twice at the Amman Stand-Up Comedy Festival.

In 2013 he was nominated for the Canadian Comedy Award for best newcomer.
